William Robert Carlisle, age 84 of Michigan City, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 in Michigan City.

He was born on August 7, 1939 in Michigan City, IN to Robert H. and Marion L. (Hutton) Carlisle who preceded him in death.

Bill married the love of his life, Sara (Pugsley) Carlisle on April 22, 1961. Sara still resides in Michigan City. They celebrated 62 years of marriage this past April.

He is also survived by his children: Robert (Susan) Carlisle of Soddy Daisy, TN, Mary (Michael M.D.) Johnson of Sherwood, WI, and Elizabeth “Beth” Carlisle (Steven Blackstock) of Littleton, CO; grandchildren: Atty Alexander (Bronwen) Carlisle, Kelsey N. Carlisle, Rachel Johnson M.D., Jacob (Kelsey L.) Johnson M.D., Grace and Ava Blackstock; and great grandson: Clive Carlisle.

Bill was the owner of Carlisle Funeral Home with his wife, Sara. He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, a member of the Pottawatomie Country Club for 60 years, a longtime member of the Elks, Rotary Club, Orak Masons Chamber, Jesters, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home and golfing.

Family and friends are invited for a memorial visitation on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:30 pm at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with his son-in-law, Rev Steven Blackstock officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Unity Foundation of LaPorte County, 422 Franklin Street, Suite C, Michigan City, IN 46360.
