William J. Offutt, age 73, of Michigan City, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at St. Anthony Memorial Health Care, Michigan City. Private family services will be held at a later date. Mr. Offutt was born June 24, 1935 in Millstone, KY to John W. and Leila L. (Patterson) Offutt, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 23, 1955 in New Buffalo, MI he married Beverly Blank, she survives in Michigan City. Also surviving are daughters Valerie (Ygal )Giramberk of Fountain Hills, AZ, Debra (Paul) Wenc of Rockford, IL and Barbara Grace of Portage, grandchildren Shawn Grace, Robin (Kevin) Dailey, Megan Wenc and Tina Grace, great-grandchildren Ethan Fromm and Evan Dailey, brothers James E. Offutt and Hugh W. Offutt, and sister Jenny Villines, all of Madisonville, KY. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Sadler. Mr. Offutt had been self employed as a masonry contractor. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsmen. He was always enthused about working on the “family ranch” in KY. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a skilled mason and wood craftsman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
