Our Condolences to all: Aunt Jean; Tom, Marcia, Laurie & families. It is at times like these it is so hard to be so far away. I have only loving memories both from my childhood and in more recent years, of my Uncle Billy. Almost anytime or anywhere my parents, Jim & Rita McShane and Aunt Jean & Uncle Bill got together - in East Chicago, Highland, Pekin or at the cottage on the St Joe's River maybe especially the cottage there was laughter, lots of laughter. In the years since then Uncle Billy and Aunt Jeannie have shown even more warmth and kindness to me and the family at large. Uncle Billy will always have a special place in our hearts. Our sincere regret we could not be there; please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Peggy & Brian, and Rory.

What can anyone say at the loss of such a wonderful person? Bill was a great neighbor and a pillar of the community. He came from a very proud East Chicago family. His father was a noted football coach for whom McShane Drive in East Chicago was named. When he was raising his children he and his wife Jean were active in the community. During the 50th Anniversary of Marktown 1967 they participated on virtually every committee that was established. Bill and Jean raised three of the most remarkable children to have lived in Marktown. His wife Jean, their children and grandchildren were the true joy of his life. He will be missed by his fellow Marktowners, the members of the churches he attended over the years, by his friends and fellow works and DuPont and most especially by Jean, their children and grandchildren and the rest of their extended family and friends. Society is diminished by the loss of this truly great friend. Most respectfull,
