WILLIAM DeLAUGHTER, age 88 of Crown Point, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015. He is survived by wife Carolyn of 47 years; three children: Mary (Roger) Speicher, Bill (Leah) DeLaughter, David (Kara) DeLaughter; 10 grandchildren:Telly (Mindy) Speicher, Cresta and Preston Speicher, Wesley, Isaiah, Saleh, Laleh, Katrina, Heather, Jonathon DeLaughter; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Thomas (Beth) DeLaughter; brother-in-law Jim Roden; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter Margaret DeLaughter (daughter of Bessie); parents William and Daisy DeLaughter; brother Harry DeLaughter; sisters Mildred Hodge and Mary Roden. William grew up in Morris and Gary, Indiana. He attended three bible colleges, became an ordained minister, obtained a degree in business administration from I.U. Northwest at age 41. He worked for Sears in Fort Wayne, IN and Englewood Electric in Gary. His first full time ministry was in Hamilton, Indiana and preached at many Chicagoland area churches before becoming a missionary to Rhodesia, Zimbabwe in 1976, preaching and printing God’s word. He was also a member of Southlake Christian Church in Crown Point. He was a preacher, teacher, amateur botanist, electrician, amateur astronomer, and counselor. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service (811 E. Franciscan Dr., Crown Point) on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. from First Christian Church (495 S. Indiana Ave., Crown Point) with Minister Christopher Shrum officiating.
