Dear Bateman Family, especially Caleb and Kyle, I have known Wayne for 25 years when he was active in the FOE aerie and I was an active member of the FOE auxiliary. Wayne was always most interested in what our officers wanted to do and supported all of our functions. He became a dear friend, especially to me, Barbara Polen at the time and Judi Frisk, my wonderful friend. My daughter Kelly loved him too and he was a great help regarding her when we needed it. He was wonderful to my husband Slimthrough many of his health trials and tribulations prior to his death 5 years ago. As for the Eagles, We tried to make the FOE a more profitable and fun place with so much help from our other auxilary friends and besides Wayne, many of the other aerie members. We were involved at a very special time, we accomplished many things and there was much love all around us. Also during that time I was able to see Caleb and Kyle grow from little boys into admirable young men. Judi and I followed Caleb's theatrical shows and loved them. Here's to Caleb, you will always be so special. I loved re-typing your adventures on your trip to Europe. And Kyle, you always made us shake our head and say oh well guess he is just like his Dad. I mean that it the best way, Caleb was the serious one and you were the funny and silly redhead. I am sure you are doing well and I would love to hear from both of you boys. Anyway, I am so sorry that your Dad had such a short life, I was looking forward to seeing him this summer on our trip home to Crown Point. I now live in Florida with my husband, Butch John Schach and cannot be there to see you. Please keep all of the special memories of your Dad and my friend with you always. He is right up there with your grandfather and grandfather is probably still in charge. Love to Virgadell too. Sincerely, Barb Polen Schach
