Dear Ron and Family- Please accept my belated condolences on the loss of W. Paul Potter. After I lost my own Dad I just lost track of things in the daily paper. I didnt find out until I picked up a Star newspaper a couple of weeks after he died. Otherwise I would have payed my respects at the funeral. Sincerely- Mike Gentleman

I remember Mr Potter for several reasons... At one time he bowled in a league with my dad adn I remember him from the bowling alley. I also remember him from Trinity Lutheran Church. But most of all I remember him for the HUGE smile and friendly wave he gave to everyone as we passed by him at his crossing-guard post at the corner of Lake Street and South Street. Even in the foulest of weather he was out there doing his duty to help children safely on their way to school and living his personal mission to brighten the day of everyone who passed his post. When I was in elementary school he helped me cross the street. When I was in high school as I would drive in to school in the morning there he was sitting at the corner waving to everyone who had the blessed opportunity to pass his way. I imagine that Mr. Paul Potter is now stationed right inside the pearly gates of Heaven helping people find their way around once they get past St Peter...with a great big smile and a hearty (and heart-felt) wave to everyone who passes by.

Paul was a great neighbor to me as a child growing up. I remember him helping me out many-many times. He will be missed by many. My condolences go out to the family.
