Vera Z. Dwyer, age 89, of Michigan City, died Saturday, April 24 at 10:20 a.m. at the Arbors of Michigan City. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery chapel, Michigan City with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Vera was born June 5, 1920 in Canada to Tony and Marie (Androscovitch) Zuck, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 19, 1941 in Ste. Agathe, Quebec, Canada, she married James G. Dwyer, he passed away August 20, 1995. Mrs. Dwyer was a homemaker. At one time she worked for the Von Trapp family in Vermont. Her husband had been president of Dwyer Instruments. She grew up in Canada and along with her brothers and sisters enjoyed hockey, skiing and skating in the winter. She and her husband spent many wonderful hours sailing on Lake Michigan and took part in several races, winning some of them. They had a collection of silver cups they won along with their faithful companions Duffy, their Irish Setterand later Sinbad, their black lab. She enjoyed listening to music and playing bingo. Over the years she liked bird feeding, gardening, sewing, needlepoint, knitting, and painting on various mediums. She was also an avid reader.
