V. JANE RIDGELY, age 92 of Merrillville, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016.
She was born in East Chicago, IN in 1924.
Survived by sons: Dr. Patrick (Sharon) of MN, Timothy (Patty) of WA, Brian of NC; daughter, Kathleen Beal of MA; five grandchildren; step-granddaughter and step-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by devoted husband of 57 years, Robert; son, Terrence; parents; four brothers; three sisters.
Jane was a former member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Merrillville for 30 years. While a member, she was President of the Rosary Sodality and Treasurer of the Parish Summer Carnival held on the church grounds. Jane was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School, Class of 1941 and attended Indiana University. After serving in the U.S. Navy for two and ½ years, she was employed by Union National Bank until her marriage in 1953 to the love of her life and soul-mate, Robert. She was later employed by the Diocese of Gary as a secretary at Andrean High School from 1970 to 1989. Jane loved her family, home and church. She enjoyed traveling in all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii and to foreign countries.
Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 9:30 from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10::00 a.m. from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 200 E. 78th Ave., Merrillville with Rev. Jon Plavcan officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery.
