THOMAS J. GROGAN, age 67 of Merrillville, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016.
He is survived by wife, Mary (nee Muller); three children: Lynn Blackburn, Denise (Dave) Pastrick, Eileen (Chris) Part; five grandchildren: Anna and Liam Blackburn, Joseph and Thomas Pastrick, and Ivy Part; brother: Richard (Pat) Grogan; two sisters, Jean Grogan and Rita (Jerry) Skocik; nieces and nephews: Scott, Sarah, Jessica, Brian, Beth, Erin, and Allison. Preceded in death by parents, John and Regina Grogan; nephew, Brian Grogan.
Tom was a parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Merrillville for 29 years. He was born in Verona, PA and was a graduate of King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Tom worked for Sodexo (formerly Saga/Marriot) for 35 years. He was Founder and Master Craftsman of Why Knot Wood. Tom was a loyal super-fan of his grandchildrens’ sports and theater events.
Tom loved woodworking, cooking, gardening, fixing things, but most of all, he loved his family. He had a sense of humor that made others smile and was known by many for his loyal and generous nature. He would show up, help out, lend a hand, and make others’ lives easier, richer, and more fun. He will be dearly missed.
Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 DIRECTLY from SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5885 Harrison St., Merrillville, with Rev. Jon Plavcan officiating. There will be a half-hour of visitation at church prior to services. Services will conclude at the church with cremation to follow.
