THOMAS G. BROWN, II “Tommy”, age 51 of Lowell, formerly of Hobart and Merrillville, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 after a long, hard-fought battle against pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dawn (nee Spry) Brown; his loyal and loving companion, Smoke; mother Dorothy (Joe) Merrell; father, Thomas (M.J.) Brown; sisters: Catherine Davis, Debra (Dwayne) Mims; mother-in-law, Shirley Spry; sisters-in-law, Melody (Allen Lindekugel) Levin, Piper (Steve) Keller; brother-in-law, Scott (Cindy) Spry; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Preceded in death by father-in-law, Robert Spry; godson, Joshua Thomas Brown; his grandparents; and his pals, Snoopy and Dallas.
Tommy was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lowell. He was a graduate of Merrillville High School, Class of 1984. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy while on board the U.S.S. Shasta. Tom worked for Dawn Food Products with 29 years of service. He was a member and P.E.R. of the B.P.O. Elks, Hobart Lodge #1152, and was a former member of the Cedar Lake American Legion Riders. Tommy loved to golf, having won the Hobart Elks Golf League with his trusty golf partner. He loved riding his Harley “Trixie,” driving his several Mustangs over the years, and doing things for his family and friends. Tom was a true life-time Dallas Cowboys fan, and also loved the White Sox and Blackhawks. He was a very outgoing and wonderful person to be around. Tom had a true heart of gold.
Visitation and church services will be Saturday, March 24, 2018 DIRECTLY from First United Methodist Church, 520 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell. Visitation is from 8:30 am. until 12:00 Noon with funeral services to follow with Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Services will conclude at church with cremation to follow. Tom will be laid to rest at West Creek Cemetery in Lowell at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tommy’s name may be made to PANCAN.ORG or to the Hope Center in Lowell, IN.
