Thomas B. Carlisle

Thomas B Carlisle Tom passed away January 26 2011 after fighting with dignity and courage, pancreatic cancer. Tom was born January 7 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of Dr. Maurice Joe and Delores Carlisle. He moved to Belvidere, Illinois at the age of one. He was a graduate of Belvidere High School in 1970, going on to earn his BS in Music Education at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He taught high school music in Avon, Indiana assisting with their marching and jazz bands. He returned to Ball State to receive his Master Degrees in Music and Computer Science. In under graduate, he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Ball State University Singers. The University Singers entertained at the inaugurations of the president in Washington DC and the governor of Indiana, and participated in the musical revues and touring military bases to entertain the troops. He started his career with Beldon Manufacturing in Richmond, Indiana. His passion to community service projects, Tom played and directed musicals at the civic theatre in Richmond and his love of music permeated everything he did. As a member of St. Luke’s, he participated in the choir and played trumpet with the orchestra. Tom worked in Indianapolis as an IT Project Manager for Eli Lilly and Company. Tom’s family was his joy, daughter Kathryn, brother Jeffrey, sisters Julianne Koritz of Boca Raton, FL. Jaynanne (Jerry) Karl of Dillon, Co.; nephews Matthew Carlisle, Tim Koritz, Jon Koritz, Scott Koritz, and Ryan Montgomery; nieces Gillian Montgomery and Emily Carlisle; aunt Marriane Scotten; uncles Vernon Scotten and James Carlisle; special friends Steve Lewis, Janet and Jeff Roller. The service will be held Sunday, Jan. 30 at 2:30 p.m. EST at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Indianapolis with interment in Carmel Cemetery. God bless you Tom and family...we dated for a year(1976)when you were teaching @ Avon High School. Please hug our daughter Ashley Who is among you in Heaven. She also left this world in 2011 at age 28 (cancer). ...our lives are shattered. Many fond memories of you.

In memory of Tom - I recall being Tom's cube mate when I started at Eli Lilly. He was such a great guy, sharing so much about his daughter and his life. I enjoyed speaking with him about many things - his love of music, his dedication to his daughter, and of work related things as well. To his family, I give my deepest condolences.

Very much enjoyed working with Tom and did not know of his music skills but am not surprised because his joy for life came out in whatever he did so music makes so much sense. He will be missed.

I worked with Tom during his last years with Lilly. Tom always had a positive approach to life, had a smile on his face and enjoyed talking golf with me. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Tom was a pleasure to work with - always had a smile to share and genuinely cared about others. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the family regarding Tom's passing. I worked with Tom at Eli Lilly and Company. Tom was an upbeat positive influence on all the projects he touched. Being new to the area, Tom helped me get acquainted with other people and was always an inspiration to me. I enjoyed working with him as a colleague and a friend.

I was notified today of Tom's passing. I had the opportunity to work on a project with Tom and enjoyed his sense of humor and his positive approach to everything. Godspeed Tom, I will miss you and wish peace for your family at this difficult time.

A joyous man with a great laugh and sense of humor. Tom was a great coworker and person. I enjoyed working with him on several occaisions and enjoyed hisr ideas and stories. I will remember him as a good man who tried to overcome difficult times through laughter. Thanks Tom.

To Tom's Dear Family, I am sad to hear of Tom's passing. I worked with Tom at Lilly and had the fun memory of playing a gig with him downtown with the Lilly Band. That night, we sat together during a nice dinner break having a great conversation and enjoying the food. We also had fun at rehearsals. I last saw Tom in the cafeteria at work when he told me he was going on leave. I've missed him ever since and regret not being able to talk with him before he passed. Tom was always upbeat and positive-minded, calm and easy-going. May God comfort you all during this time. I hope Tom is enjoying playing music with Heaven's Band now!

Tom was a wonderful person and he will be greatly missed. I worked with Tom at Lilly and we talked many times about his love for his daughter. He always had a smile and a kind word. He was such a sweet man that only wanted the best for everyone. I pray for Tom's family for peace during this difficult time. We all have lost a wonderful friend.

My heart goes out to your entire family. I was thinking of all the wonderful times I had with Tom. We enjoyed our years as young guys fishing in Canada with Jeff and Joe; as young teens with double dates; the of course football and music events galore. Dr,Dee,Jeff,Julie,Jane I am sorry to hear about Tom`s passing, he was still so very young. I am always glad to have had the time in the "old neighborhood", on N. Main and Harrison St.in Belvidere. I can remember keeping Jeff quite busy in the winter, building snow forts, and things of that nature.
