Steven Lee Hargis Sr., age 58, of Salem, IL, formerly of Hebron, IN, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2009 at his home. He is survived by 2 sons, Steven Christy Hargis Jr. of Wells, MN and Christopher Hargis of Wolcott, IN; 3 daughters, Kerry Ian Minderman of Louisville, KY, Heidi Hargis of Remington, IN, and Stephanie Hargis of Wells, MN; 6 grandchildren, Ian, Natalie & Maia Minderman, Isiah & Sidney Hargis, and Stefon Blankenship; parents, Bill and Lila Hargis of Hebron, IN; brother, Kenneth Jackie Hargis of IN; sister, Debbie Jerry Wilson of IN; nephew, Taylor Wilson and nieces, Erin Deal and Brittany Hargis. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Geisen Funeral Home, 624 N. Main St., Hebron, IN, with Minister Jeff Collet officiating. Interment at Hebron Cemetery in Hebron, IN. Visitation will be held at the Geisen Funeral Home, Hebron on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Mr. Hargis was currently employed as a refrigeration manager at Henderson Trucking Company in Salem, IL. He will be missed greatly by a family that loved and respected him dearly. Memorial contributions may be given to the Porter County Special Olympics. Dear Hargis Family, Steve was a good freind to me. Although I did not know him long my life is much better for knowing Steve. He was a straight shooting no nonsense type of guy and I respected that. We worked together and he taught me many things and you always knew where you stood with Steve. He had integrity and was one of the most honest people I had the pleasure to know. He loved his mother and dad, his children and always got a bright smile on his face when he spoke of his grandchildren. I feel like I know all of you thru our many the talks we had about you. I loved to hear him tell stories of his up bringing. I will forever miss him. The world was a much better place with him here. I am so sorry for you loss. You are in my prayers Charlie Whalbring

I would like to extend my condolences to Steve's children. Your father is a great friend of mine and he will be greatly missed, I loved the morning chats we would share as our days would begin at Tri State. We would swap stories about our children and I can tell you that he was a proud Father and Grandpa. I can count my true friends on one hand and he was a true friend to me, a very special one.
