Steve Gary Botnovcan

June 7, 1941 - April 24, 2010

STEVE GARY BOTNOVCAN age 68 of Flemington NJ passed away Saturday April 24 2010 at Hunterdon Medical Center. He was born June 7 1941 in Gary IN to Steve and Mildred Botnovcan. Survived by two sisters: Mary Botnovcan of Lady Lake FL Marjorie (Walter) Woldt of Schererville three children: Gary Botnovcan of Woburn MA Sharon (Marc Howard) Botnovcan of Manlius NY Pamela (George) Behmke of Flemington NJ five grandchildren: Hallie Botnovcan Alex Maddy and Nicole Howard Heather Behmke. Steve was a longtime resident of Northwest Indiana and relocated to Longwood FL in 1982 then to Flemington NJ in 1985. He was a graduate of Horace Mann High School Gary Class of 1959. Steve was an Air Force veteran having served four years and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was a graduate of Indiana University earning a bachelors degree in Business Administration. He worked for Illinois Bell then for AT&T for many years where he retired in 1996. He most recently worked at Northlandz in Flemington NJ. Steve was an avid photographer and a former member of the Gary Photography Club as well as the Elks. He was very active with the Community Theatre Guild in Valparaiso IN from 1978-1982. Steve also enjoyed many years of boating fishing computer gaming doing genealogical research and spending time with his grandkids. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville IN Friday April 30 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday May 1 2010 at 11:30 a.m. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Rev. Joseph Vamos officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery Merrillville IN. The family suggests donations to either the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.

I will always remember Uncle Steve with a smile. His laugh was raspy and hearty and he had a wry sense of humor with fascinating observations of the present and past. His passion for researching our family tree was amazing and so informative for all of us. I am truly sorry that he is no longer with us in person but I am comforted that he is with Granny and Grandpa. I send my deepest sympathies to Pam Sharon and Gary and all of his grandkids. I know he loved you so much. Our thoughts are with you - Jennifer Dmitri Markus and Annika.
