Shirley June Burns

Shirley June Burns, nee Wallace, age 79, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at her home. Shirley was born August 20, 1929 to Everette Wallace and Olga Andersen. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, John E. “Jack” Burns. Shirley was the loving mother of 3 daughters, Linda Gene Haskins of Columbia City, IN, Jackie Hernandez of Knox, IN , and Bobbie Kent Engle of Hudson, WI, 5 grandchildren, Garrick Haskins, Nicole Rische, Christine Ellis, Sarah Swaim , and Diane Betts, 4 great-grandchildren, Philip, Christian, Allison , and Grier, many family and friends. All will truly miss her. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Geisen Funeral Home, Merrillville with John Starr officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Visitation will be held at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Shirley worked for many years at Taft Junior High School and Luke's Market Basket in Crown Point, IN. She was a meat wrapper and retired in 1987 from Wilco Foods in Lowell, IN.
