Shirley J. Settle (nee Saunders), age 89, of Merrillville, IN, formerly of Lakes of Four Seasons and Olympia Fields, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Shirley is survived by her children: Don (Debra Horne) Settle, Ralph Settle, David Settle, Tom (Linda) Settle, John (Karen) Settle; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gussie Lyon; and her many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Ralph Settle; infant son, Angel; parents: Russell and Maxine Saunders; and siblings: Barbara Edwards and Rich Saunders.

Shirley was born and raised in Gary, IN, and was a graduate of Horace Mann High School, Class of 1951. She worked at U.S. Steel where she met the love of her life, Ralph Settle. They married on June 26, 1954 and soon began their family together and moved across the country with Ralph’s job. Shirley was a very busy and dedicated homemaker for their family. In her little spare time, she enjoyed reading, going to the beach, and following the Green Bay Packers, especially Brett Favre.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 9 2024, at Geisen-Pruzin Funeral & Cremation Services, 6360 Broadway Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410 from 1:00 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 3:00 PM.
