Shirley J. Mahoney

Shirley J. Highsmith-Mahoney nee Davis, age 83 of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Spring Mill Health Campus in Merrillville, IN. She is survived by her sons: David Glennda Highsmith, Donald Karen Highsmith, and Jerry Debbie Highsmith. She also had 8 grandchildren: Beth, Kim, Scott, Ashley, Ryan, Shannon, Daniel and Amanda. Shirley was also blessed the 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands: Robert L. Highsmith and John Mahoney; her sons: Dennis & Wayne Highsmith; and sister, Patricia Roberts.. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 12:30 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre, NOTE: NEW LOCATION – 2 blocks east of Broadway at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN with Rev. Mark Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 12:00 noon – 4:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN. Shirley was born on November 18, 1926 to the late Gerald & Madeline Davis. She was a devoted and loving mother to five sons. Her wonderful smile and her joy for life will never be forgotten. She loved singing and playing trivia, she also loved to knit and make arts and crafts for her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shirley's name to the Dementia Unit at Spring Mill Health Campus, Merrillville, IN.
