Ronald L. Hawks, age 46, of Michigan City, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009 at his home in Michigan City. Services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. John D. Hall officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Ronald was born July 11, 1963 in Oklahoma City, OK to Robert and Barbara (Handley) Hawks. His father preceded him in death, his mother survives in Michigan City. On July 21, 1984, in Michigan City, he married Susan Dalton, she survives in Michigan City. Also surviving are his sons Dalton and Dustin Hawks of Michigan City, brothers Robert (Jodi) Hawks in Woodstock, IL and Randall (Sarah) Hawks, CT, mother and father-in-law Joyce and Larry Dalton of Michigan City, and many nieces and nephews. Ronald was employed with Larry Dalton, Inc. as a heating and air conditioning technician, where he had a valued customer base. He also worked part time security at the Port Authority. Ronald was a 1982 graduate of Elston where he played football for the Red Devils. He served in the US Navy from 1983-1987. He was avid reader and a self taught history buff. He was an excellent cook and entertainer, and enjoyed making people feel wanted and comfortable. Ronald was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and friend and will be greatly missed by those privileged enough to know him. Memorial contributions may be made to the Open Door Health Clinic or the Michiana Humane Society.
