Roland will be missed around the neighborhood--chatting about cars, watching him walk Maggie around the neighborhood, seeing him sitting in the garage watching the game on TV and people driving by. He was a helluva nice guy.

This poem was written by my dad's friend "Hot Rod Dave" and mailed to my mom... Today we think of Roland and remember who he was of all the lives he touched and how he affected us Who was this man named Roland what stands out in our minds of the years he spent on earth of things he did so kind His family they were always first in his thoughts and words and dreams his wife, his kids and grandkids he loved, for all to see and his furry friend named Maggie about whom he would often talk about feeding, caring, and spoiling her and taking her for a walk his friends they numbered many he seemed to help them all I know, when I had problems, all I had to do was to call he was so skilled and smart seemed nothing he couldn't do he always had the answers as well as the right tools I wish that I'd had known him a lot longer than I had he was like my older brother to others he was dad finally he found his peace too soon he had to die but now I'll bet he's happy in that Menard's in the sky I see him up there working fulfilling his eternal fate squeezing a can of oil on the hinges of heaven's gate Roland we all miss you Written on 2/9/13

Tina Christiansen left a message on February 13, 2013:
Roland had a lot to be proud of. He and Sharon raised a wonderful family that I just love to pieces. I have many fun memories with the Brandt family. So many, that at times, I feel like I am one of them. :-) He was always very welcoming. There was always room at the dinner table for whoever might stop by, and always a beer in the fridge with your name on it. He was a hard worker that would do anything he could for his family. I loved his humor. I always knew that if I was in his company, or any member of the Brandt clan, it was going to be a fun time. But, get them all together, and look out! I enjoy seeing many of his traits in all of his children and grandchildren. I was proud to have known him. And I will miss him deeply. He will live on through all of you...Bill, Wayne, Kevin, Cassie....and I know that as proud as you all are of your dad, he was equally as proud of all of you. Hugs to all of you...

I will miss my big brother but I am glad he is no longer in pain and is now in the presence of those who in his family and friends who has passed before him. May he rest in peace and know that he was/is loved.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

When I was much younger I often worried how would I get by without my Dad and now that I'm older I realize I still need my Dad. Although he will be sadly missed my Dad's love lives on in his wise words, in ways he shaped who I am, and in my memories of family times. Dad, you will always be close to my heart.
Wayne Brandt left a message on February 5, 2013:
A great Dad. My Dad taught me many things. He taught me to respect women, respect life, and to be compassionate to those who are in need. He taught me to stand up for the defenseless. My Dad taught me that if I'm not bleeding then I'm not hurt. Lying only makes a problem worse. It's always 5 o'clock somewhere. Life is hard but it's even harder if you are stupid. Own up to your mistakes, make it right, then move on. No matter the situation there is a joke in there somewhere and someone has to make it. Laugh. My Mom brought me into this world and if I piss her off, she can take me out of it. My Dad taught me that "if" is big word. (He taught me some other word as well. ;)) Dad taught me to never call him by his name because he earned the title of "Dad" and I had better use it. I came to realize that no matter what I did, he loved me and would always stand beside me. My Dad taught me that little sisters are supposed to be spoiled. Cars are cool. Dad taught me that raising children doesn't mean giving them everything they want. Love isn't always easy but it's the only thing that's really worth anything. My Dad taught me to me to be a man and to live life to the fullest. Roland Brandt is my Dad and I miss him. I will try to live up to his expectations I hope that that when I see him again he will say, "Well done, Son. I'm proud of you."

May you know God's assurance, strength and love in this time. In Jesus Roland was, just as we are, more than conquerors (Romans 8:37-39)! We're here for you! With love, The Vander Woude's

Best garbage disposal installer I ever knew! Among many other talents he had. I hope these talents and his sense of family carries on to all his grandchildren. He'll always be remembered.
