Robert George Rauh, of Heath, TX, since 2001, passed away on June 14, 2018, at the age of 80. He was born November 15, 1937, in Gary, IN, to George and Clara Rauh. He was very proud of his German heritage and loved all travels to Europe with Joanne, his wife of 57 years.
Robert graduated from Bishop Noll High School in Hammond, IN, and immediately went to work for US Steel in Gary, IN, where he remained for 40 years as the top metallurgical steel producer at the #1 BOP Shop. He retired at 58 years young and never looked back. He loved to travel the world and play golf with all his buddies up North and here in Texas with the Mesquite Senior League. He also enjoyed playing on bowling leagues when his children were young and was known to his friends as “Doc” or “Dr. No” from the James Bonds movies.
Robert is survived by his loving wife: Joanne; children: Janet Wildermuth of Heath and Robert Rauh, Jr., and wife Marissa of Prosper, TX. Also a lover of animals, he is survived by Bella, Stella and Fergie. He is preceded by Casper and Vinny. He is survived by his only granddaughter, Peyton Reece Wildermuth, and a host of nieces and nephews throughout the US. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Clara; brother: Gene Rauh; and sister-in-law: Paulette Rauh; all of Northwest Indiana.
A funeral mass will be held 11:00am Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 1305 Damascus Road, Rockwall, 75087, with Father George Monaghan officiating. Interment will be at Calumet Park in Merrillville, IN, on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:30 A.M. Family and friends may gather at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) at 11:00 A.M. to join in procession to the cemetery.
