Rita A. Thomas nee Reilly, age 79, of Lakes of the Four Seasons Crown Point, IN, formerly of Matteson, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009. She is survived by her daughter: Marita Jerry Leader of Lakes of the Four Seasons; sons: Michael Colleen Thomas of Chicago, IL and Richard Rae Ellen Thomas of Flossmoor, IL; 4 granddaughters: Erin, Nikki, Ericka , and Emily; sister: Marian Bill Pavelic of Lagrange, IL; many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Preceded in death by her husband: John Thomas; mother: Mary Reilly and sister: Josephine Wcislo. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 1:00 PM directly Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7667 E. 109th Ave., Winfield, IN with Rev. Joseph Murphy officiating. Interment at Salem Cemetery in Hebron, IN. Friends may visit with the family at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Winfield, IN on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 12 Noon until 1:00 PM. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield, IN and formerly worked at E.J. Korvettes as a switch board operator located in Matteson, IL. I am so sad my neighbor is gone. We always tend to hibernate in the cold weather, so I didn't get to say good-bye or offer help. She was my friend and confidant, sharing fence post conversations. She was always open and honest. I appreciated her. I will miss her. Very, very much.

I cannot express how much my daughter and I will miss Rita. She was very thoughtful of and kind to my daughter and I will always be grateful to her for that. She was like an adopted grandmother to us both. Our hearts go out to her family in their time of mourning.
