Richard H. Armstrong, age 85, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at Regency Florence in Florence, Oregon with his family at his side. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Hugh Page officiating. Committal of ashes will follow immediately at Swan Lake Cemetery. A lunch will be provided by the Women of Trinity. Mr. Armstrong was born January 21, 1924 in Laporte, IN to Robert and Mabel (Harrington) Armstrong, both of whom preceded him in death. On November 18, 1944 in Michigan City he married Norma J. Feig, who also preceded him in death. She and Dick met on the staff of the junior high newspaper when he was 13 and they were together from that point on. Surviving are daughter Susan Rafter, Washington, D.C., son Steven Armstrong, Madison, WI and son David (Ruth Marsh) Armstrong, Florence, OR. Mr. Armstrong had been employed at Bobko, Inc. with 11 years of service, until his retirement in 1987. Previous to that he was employed at Enyeart Chevrolet for many years. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church and in his later years he was a devoted caregiver for Norma. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church.
