Raymond E. Mauch, age 85, of Indianapolis, formerly of Michigan City, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Sunrise at Fall Creek Assisted Living in Indianapolis. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Reshan officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday. Entombment will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Mr. Mauch was born in Milwaukee, WI to Louis and Natalie (Hahn) Mauch, both of whom preceded him in death. On February 15, 1947 in Michigan City, he married Janet Ruth Shroyer; she preceded him in death in 1998. Surviving is a son Thomas (Carol) Mauch of Michigan City, a daughter Jill M. (William) Platt of Indianapolis, grandchildren Jennifer Mauch of Chicago and Madeline Platt of Indianapolis, and a sister Elaine Congelliere of Newby, CA. He was preceded by a brother James Mauch and sisters Irene Callies and Clara Pokorny. Mr. Mauch was a master journeyman and past secretary/treasurer of his local plumbers union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. and served in England during WWII. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Michigan City, a lifetime member of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity and a former member of the 76ers Golf League.
