Ray N. Giacomin, age 71, a longtime resident of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Ray is survived by his wife of 47 years, Val Giacomin (nee Luebcke); son, Brian (Kristen) Giacomin; sister, Anita (Ken) Gladdis; 2 brothers-in-law: Randy (Wendy) Luebcke and Doug (Robin) Luebcke; sister-in-law, Lisa (Joe) Riffle; and his many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents: Angelo and Joann Giacomin; his in-laws: Les and June Luebcke; and sister-in-law, Pam Zona.

Ray was raised in Merrillville and was a graduate of Merrillville High School, Class of 1971. He earned a B.S. in Accounting at I.U.N. and then became an accountant with JM Foster with 30 years of service. He then worked for IN-PACT as their C.F.O. for 22 years. Ray was a board member from 1997-2024 and also treasurer at the Southlake YMCA. He played an important role in merging several of the local Y’s into the Crossroads YMCA. Ray loved cars, golfing, traveling and spending quality time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Ray’s Life will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Ray’s name to the Southlake YMCA.

I knew Ray back in 6th grade. He was a great guy! So sad to hear of his passing.

I have known Ray for about 5 years now. I had the pleasure of meeting him as a "patient" of ours and he was the most thoughtful, happy, nice and always smiling and a pleasure to wait on him kind of person. I am very fortunate to have met him and he will be greatly missed. I will not be able to make the service due to the time & location, but my thoughts and prayers are with the family. p.s. he has the same birthday as my mom. RIP Ray!!!

Ray was a valued and loved member of our Anytime Fitness Crown Point family. His dedication and kindness will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.

Ray was a true servant leader with a BIG heart. Many know what he has done for organizations he served for, but I’ll always remember the little things he did when no one was watching. Thanks for the friendship and laughs. We’ll miss you!

I was CFO of Valparaiso YMCA and knew Ray and his role with the Crossroads YMCA. He ended up recruiting me to be CFO of Crossroads to replace him and I enjoyed working with him. His family is in my prayers. I hope he got to enjoy life the last few years since I retired from the Y.

Having served on the board of directors as the Southlake YMCA and now Crossroads YMCA with Ray, I can attest that he was the true definition of a gentleman. He served as treasurer and knew the financials better than anyone. A class-act. I had great respect for him as a friend, board member and community leader for all these years. His contributions and insights helped shape where the Crossroads YMCA is today. May God be with the Giacomin family during this time of sorrow. God Bless.
