Randall C. Miller, age 91, of Michigan City, IN passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 4, 2015. He was born on April 22, 1923 in Michigan City, IN to the late Carl and Julia Miller. He is survived by his wife Lois, and his daughters: Melinda (Ron) Nagle, Amy (Derek) Nowatzki and son: Timothy Randall Miller. Also surviving are grandchildren: Christian, Andrew and Jenna Nowatzki and Justin Andres. Also very special niece and nephew: Marge Bockover and Bob Schultz. He was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Schultz. Randy Miller graduated from Elston High School and later Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. He served with the US Navy, both in World War II and the Korean War. He met his future wife Lois (Langholz) while a student at Capital University. They were married on June 26, 1948 and located in Michigan City, where Randy opened a successful accounting firm, Miller Tax Service. He served two terms as mayor of Michigan City from 1964 to 1967 and again from 1971 to 1975. Among many achievements during his time in office, one of his proudest moments was when Life Magazine named Michigan City an All American City in 1966. Randy was also awarded the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash Award by Governor Otis Bowen. He also served two successful terms on the Michigan City City Council. After his service to Michigan City ended he returned to Miller Tax Service and enjoyed many years of thriving activity before retiring. A life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a long standing member of the Michigan City Exchange Club, Randy Miller was known as a skilled singer and an enthusiastic teller of stories. He enjoyed travel with his family, golf, tennis, and fishing in Lake Michigan and was a Die Hard Cubs Fan all his life. His belief in his hometown never wavered, and his hope for its future remained strong. Though he achieved much in his life, Randy Miller was, first and foremost, a family man- a devoted husband and a good, strong father. Funeral arrangements are with Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN with visitation for friends and family on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home and on Friday, January 9, 2015 directly at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 9:30 to time of service. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, January 9, 2015 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church 818 Franklin St. Michigan City, IN with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating.
