Ramona Goede Zahrndt, age 92, of Michigan City, died Monday, August 3 at 8:05 p.m. at the Arbors of Michigan City, with her family by her side. Services will be held Saturday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, with Rev. William H. Fine officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. Mrs. Zahrndt was born June 9, 1917 in Michigan City to Albert and Dinah (Sadenwater) Goede, both of whom preceded her in death. On December 27, 1941 in Michigan City, she married Ronald A. Zahrndt, he passed away on March 6, 1969. Surviving is her son Jack R. (Mary) Zahrndt of Michigan City, daughter Mona (Doug) Strickland of Houston, TX, grandchildren Amelia, Lyndsay and Lydia Strickland, Dawn (Ron) Warenda, Heidi (Jon) Hale, Amy (Bob) Bartels , Jack Ryan Zahrndt, and Jessica Reason, great-grandchildren Tiffany, Lisa, Cady, Aimee, Michael, Ian, Noah, Chelsea and Dominic. She was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 1 brother. Mrs. Zahrndt had been a homemaker, and formerly worked at Hoosier Factories and Troymake of Troy, NY, a family business. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She was a talented seamstress and sewed for her family, and she was also an excellent cook and loved to cook for her family.
