Porfirio “Pilo” Dominguez Sr., age 71 of Portage, was born November 17, 1948, to Francisco Rodriguez and Anita Dominguez, but then later was raised by Frank and Angela Equihua.
Pilo was a dedicated worker at Mittal Steel Company with 47 years of service. He retired in May of 2016.
Pilo loved to go fishing, traveling, drawing, and spending quality time with his loved ones. He had a very unique sense of humor and he loved a good laugh.
On Saturday, April 25, 2020, Pilo made his transition. He leaves to cherish his loving and devoted wife, Aida; his 10 children: Porfirio (Edwina) Jr., David, Antwion Sr. (Nicole), Rosa (J), Nicole (Jesse), Antoinette (Edward), Marc (Metia), Zabrina, Emmanuel and Joshua (Kimberly); the mother of his children and ex-wives Patricia Dominguez (deceased) and Belvet Dominguez; one sister: Rachel Equihua; seven sisters-in-law: Esperanza (Frank), Elisa, Naomi, Maria (Michael), Yolanda (Floyd), Lidia (Jose) and Carmen (Lewis); two brothers-in-law: Raymond (Janet) and David (Annie); 25 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; his childhood friend Rigo Vargas and a host of nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 limitations, a restricted visitation for his family and friends will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 from 2:00-6:00 P.M. from Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage, IN 46368) During these hours, groups of up to eight at a time , for a period of 15 minutes, will be allowed into the building to pay their last respects. While it may be difficult to grieve in this manner, it will allow ample time for all those who are coming to safely say their good-byes. A PRIVATE funeral service will be held for his very immediate family and cremation will later take place. If you are unable to attend the visitation, the family would love to hear of your stories about Pilo.
