Philip Robert Stringer

Philip Phil Robert Stringer, age 64, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Linda Leisen Stringer, his two sons, Michael P. Stringer of Valparaiso, IN and Timothy R. Kristen Stringer of Lombard, IL, his most precious grandson, Ryan Patrick Stringer, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Helen Hayes Stringer, his brother Clifton Mary Stringer and sister, Linda Jack Magnabosco. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre, NOTE: NEW LOCATION at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN. Services will conclude at the funeral home with cremation to follow. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, Crown Point. Phil was born in Chicago, IL and attended school in Chicago and Dolton, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as an MP in Germany. He was involved in the construction and remodeling business for over 35 years. He spent many years coaching his sons and their friends in baseball, football, and wrestling. Phil passed after a brief, but courageous fight with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He will be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched.
