Norman C. Diedrich, age 83, of Michigan City, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Sterling House, Michigan City. Services will be held Wednesday, March 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Dr. Lance Hilberg officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with a memorial service by VFW Post #2536 and American Legion Skwiat Post #451 at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, with full military rites by VFW Post #2536 and American Legion Skwiat Post #451. Mr. Diedrich was born February 11, 1926 in Michigan City to Orphie and Helen (Krueger) Diedrich, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 8, 1946 in Michigan City, he married Betty Ann Johnson, she passed away on April 15, 1996. Surviving are son Scot (Nancy) Diedrich of West Olive, MI, daughters Gail (Dr. James) Agnew of Vero Beach, FL, Connie (Bruce) Gustafson of Westville, IN, and Kay (Tim) Gloff of New Carlisle, IN, grandchildren Aaron and Dain Gustafson, Maria, Amy and Alexandra Gloff, and Brittany Diedrich, great grandson Diedrich Gustafson, and special friend Robbie Hardin. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Diedrich and a sister, Lillian Choate. Mr. Diedrich was a retired bricklayer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He was a member of VFW Post #2536, American Legion Paradise Post in New Port Richey, FL, and Bricklayer Union No. 6. Memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice.
