Norma J. Armstrong, age 84, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at her home in Michigan City with her family and her husband of 64 years at her side.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Hugh Page officiating. Cremation will take place with burial of ashes in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Mrs. Armstrong was born March 24, 1925 in Eddyville, KY to Joseph and LaVenia (Schneider) Feig, both of whom preceded her in death. On November 18, 1944 in Michigan City she married Richard H. Armstrong, who survives her. She and Dick met on the staff of the junior high newspaper when she was 12 and they were together from that point on.
Also surviving are daughter Susan Rafter, Washington, D.C., son Steven Armstrong, Madison, WI, son David (Ruth Marsh) Armstrong, Florence, OR, and sister Catherine (Thomas) Jordan of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by a sister Jane Mourer.
Mrs. Armstrong had been employed at the LaPorte Co. Dept. of Public Welfare with 12 years of service, until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and Women of Trinity. She was a loving and devoted mother and selfless caregiver for her 3 children, husband and both Dick’s and her parents. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church.
