Nina Jane Ornelas

Nina Jane Ornelas nee Miller age 90, of Merrillville, a native of Paris, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at St. Anthony's Home in Crown Point. Nina was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Merrillville. During WWII Nina worked for the FBI. She was a former member of the Lake County Medical Society Women's Auxiliary and was a graduate of Indiana University Class of 1940. Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joseph P. Ornelas and sister, Mary Elizabeth Bridges. Nina is survived by four children: Janie Bob Hacker of South Carolina; Barbara Tom Robinson of Indianapolis, Robert Connie Ornelas of Texas, John Faith Ornelas of Crown Point; nine grandchildren: Jeff Hacker, Julie Brian Campbell, Laura Mike Kaniuk, Michael Leslie Robinson, Tricia Srini Suri, Derrick Ornelas, Joe Ornelas, Zack Ornelas and Katrina Ornelas; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two nieces: Ellen Freeman and Betsy Sanders; and many other loving relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 9:30 A.M. directly at Ss. Peter & Paul Church, 5885 Harrison St., Merrillville, IN with Rev. Dennis J. Teles officiating. Entombment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may meet with the family Monday, January 19th from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville. A prayer service will be held Monday at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also meet with the family Tuesday directly at the church from 8:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 9:30 A.M.
