Nancy Ruth Ryding (nee Johnson) age 82, of Chicago, IL and Michigan City, IN, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at her home.
She was born July 20, 1937 in Rockford, IL to Kermit J. and Marion B. (Hallstrom) Johnson who preceded her in death.
Nancy is survived by her husband: Norman Vernon Ryding; sons: John (Mimi) Ryding, Paul T. (Lisa) Ryding and Peter A. (Grace) Ryding; grandchildren: Jae, Evan, Maria, Alexandra and Robert; brothers: Roger K. (Kathy) Johnson and Greg (Pat) Johnson.
Nancy taught as a math teacher in Iowa. She was a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and sang with the Michigan City Community Choir. She served on the Synodical Board of the IN, KY Synod of ELCA for 6 years. Nancy was a member of Operation Friendship, Sons of Norway, AAUW, Lakeshore Women’s Club and Church Women United of Chicago.
Due to CDC guidelines and the health of our community, private services with immediate family only will be handled by Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN 46360. Nancy will be laid to rest at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
