MURIEL GARDNER, age 93 of Indianapolis; formerly of Merrillville, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014. She is survived by two daughters: Janel (David) Jeffries of Indianapolis, IN and Patti Gardner of Portland, OR; two grandchildren: Megan (Chad) Pryce of Indianapolis, IN and Matthew (Jenna) Jeffries of Indianapolis; seven great- grandchildren; two sisters: Sylvia Paulsen and Arlene Ward; godchild: Cheryl Farver, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband: Thomas Gardner; parents: Arthur and Adoline Peters; two brothers: Arthur and Alfred Peters; and sister: Ethel Miller. Muriel was a former member of Merrillville Methodist Church. She worked as a Nurse at Methodist Hospital in Gary and Merrillville for 38 years following graduation from Methodist Hospital’s Nurses Training in 1945. She was a high school graduate of North Judson, Class of 1938. Muriel was a member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Daughters of Scotia, Nurse’s Alumni, and B.P.W. of Merrillville. Family and Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville, Friday, May 23, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Thomas Franzen officiating. At rest, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
