Mildred B. Huseman “Aunt Sis” nee Geisen, age 94, of Cedar Lake, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at William J. Riley Memorial Residence in Munster, IN. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth A. Patricia Huseman of Cedar Lake, IN, Dale Betty Huseman of Cedar Lake, IN, and Dr. Richard M. Susan Huseman of Kansas City, KS, daughters, Jeannine Charles Cary of Crown Point, IN, Sandra Michael Mosure of Wausau, WI, Alice Jerry Kyle of Hebron, IN, and Linda McNew of LaPorte, IN, 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Harold Irene Geisen of Crown Point, IN, and brother-in-law, Wilbur Huseman of Crown Point, IN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Huseman, parents, Charlie and Regina Fiegle Geisen 2nd generation owners of the Geisen Funeral Home in Crown Point, IN and 8 brothers. Funeral prayers will be said on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre NOTE: NEW LOCATION-2 blocks east of Broadway at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 11000 W. 133rd Ave., Cedar Lake, IN with Fr. Ed Tlucek officiating. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery in Cedar Lake, IN. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre from 2:00 to 8:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 6:00 PM. Mildred was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, the Shawl Ministry and the Altar and Rosary Society as well as a charter member of The Catholic Order of Foresters Court #865 and The Charlene Club. Mildred enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, ceramics, knitting, and spending time with her family. Memorials may be given to Holy Name Catholic Church or Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Ave., Munster, IN 46321. Dear Jeannine: It was our great pleasure and privilege to first meet your Mom when she celebrated her 90th Birthday at LSM in Naples. We also enjoyed meeting her again when we visited the Farm. She was a wonderful person. She truly was everything that a Mom should be. Her family was so fortunate to have her, and we were fortunate to have met her. In loving memory of Mildred Huseman Geisen Aunt Sis and Family, On behalf of myself and my family, Natasha, Tara, and my grandchildren, Matthew and Karina, we wish we could be there and spend this moment and give thanks for all of the good things that Mildred has done in my world. Now that she has passed on she is going to a better place and I am so happy the she is not suffering any more. I loved her so much and uncle Andy. I remember her making me that pink blouse for Christmas when I was so young. She made that. She was always making things by hand and was a beautiful, beautiful, giving person. She taught us how to sew, knit, bead work, quilt, ceramics, and cooking. We used to cook together and help pick strawberries and blueberries and Aunt Sis would make pies. We all shared the pies and cakes. She was famous for blueberry pie all over the world. She was a very giving person on the farm. We thank god that we had such a wonderful Aunt. I also remember spending time with the animals feeding the pigs. I also remember when Aunt Sis sent Donny and Jimmy to clean the pigs pens. I remember playing in the grain, the hay stacks, and with the tractors with all of the cousins. We had so much fun at the farm and if we weren't at the farm, we were at the lake swimming or boating with Uncle Norby. We enjoyed are days at the farm. I also remember when she came to California. She made barbie doll birthday cakes with my daughters and taught them to knit. We also played in the jacuzzi and watched the sun set and went to the Del Mar Fair horse races. I wanted my grandchildren to meet this wonderful woman and to visit the farm and meet Kenny, Dale, Janine, Rich and Sally. We hope to visit sometime in the future. I wish I could be there as this is probably one of the last times the family will all be together. I wish you all blessings, peace, and joy during this time as you remember this wonderful woman who makes this family such a great thing to be a part of. Palms 1:40 O my soul to your tranquility for the Lord has been good to you, for he has freed my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. I shall walk before the lord in the land of the living. Oh lord, fill up our emptiness and drive away the darkness of our sins so that we may attain the fulness of eternal life and the light of ever lasting glory. Amen.
