Michael Holland, age 56, of Michigan City, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at his home in Michigan City. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Don Dempsey officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the service at the church. Ashes will be interred in Rives, TN. Michael was born October 11, 1952 in Union City, TN to Frank E. Holland and Sara (Fullerton) Holland Cole. His father preceded him in death, his mother survives in Michigan City. Also surviving are brothers and sisters Maria (Wink) Bowen of Andrews, SC, Frank (Holly) Holland of Wappapello, MO, Cindi (Robert) Reed of Cabot, AR, uncle Ben Holland of Imperial, MO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-father Lonnie Cole and sister Pamela Jones. He attended Elston Sr. High, graduating in 1970 and also attended Indiana State University. Michael had been a coding specialist at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Nimitz. He enjoyed reading and early classical music. He was a member of the American Mensa Society, the VFW Post #2536 and MHIMA.
