Melinda was a life long resident of Crown Point and Northwest Indiana. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Grade School and Crown Point High School. She was employed by the Commercial Bank of Crown Point and later became the Administrative Assistant to the President of Gainer Bank, now Chase Bank in Merrillville, IN. Melinda was a volunteer and Board Member of the Old Sheriff's House and Jail Foundation in Crown Point and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Melinda was an avid reader, enjoyed music, sewing, and watching old movies. She loved all animals great and small and will be missed by her 4 cats: Momma, Nick, Gizmo and Baby. She most enjoyed watching birds, squirrels, and deer from her screened in porch. God saw that she was very tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around her and whispered “Come with me.” With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we loved her deeply we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating and hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Author unknown. Memorials in Melinda's name may be given to The Crown Point Community Foundation, PO Box 522, Crown Point, IN 46308-0522.
