Mary Kolodziej

MARY (nee ZELENICK) KOLODZIEJ age 84 of Merrillville passed away at home Monday March 24 2008. Survived by son Walter (Maureen) Kolodziej of Valparaiso daughter Kathleen (Pat Knapp) Kolodziej of Merrillville son Mike Koll four grandchildren: Matthew Geoffrey and Emily Kolodziej of Valparaiso Jade (Jake Brice) McCaslin of Hobart great granddaughter Ava Mae Brice sister Julia Komanecki of Gary. Preceded in death by daughter Patricia Kolodziej grandson Zachary husband Walter Sr. parents Mike and Anna Zelenick five brothers: Andrew John Mike Pete and Nick Zelenick two sisters: Anna Molchan and Helen Zelenick. Mary was born in Haileyville OK on May 27 1923. Her family moved to Gary around 1928. She graduated from Tolleston High School Class of 1941. Her first job was at Peerless Potato Chips and then went on to work at U.S. Steel Metallurgical Lab where she met her future husband Walter. Mary and Walter were married in Gary on June 24 1950 and lived in the Glen Park area where she was a homemaker. In 1971 she and her husband Walter opened Ringos Golf Center where she worked until her retirement in 1989. She then spent her time doting on her grandchildren. She loved to cook for and spoil her grandchildren and her son Wallys dogs Bronx &amp Boomer. She will be dearly missed. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday March 28 2008 at Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Rev.
