MARY (nee SMITH) E. MICCOLIS age 86 of Merrillville passed away Saturday March 7 2009.Survived by son Daniel (Shirley) Miccolis of Hendersonville N.C. daughter Nancy (Daniel) Biggs of Hobart special son John Rassbach of Portage 5 grandchildren: Donna (Matt) Samotis Rob (Nancy) Rassbach Christopher (Tammy) Rassbach Barbara Marciniak and Mary C. Rassbach 12 great-grandchildren: Danny Tyler Mackenzie Matthew Christine Matthew Rochelle Brian Jared Camryn Brittney and Brandon and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by beloved husband Dominic daughter Kathleen grandson Danny Miccolis sister Eleanor Peterson 3 brothers: Scott Bill and Danny Smith.Mrs. Miccolis was a member of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church a former member of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and a graduate of Horace Mann High School. Mary was a loving wife wonderful mother and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She touched so many lives with her caring loving ways always thinking of others and making them a part of her concerns. She was an active woman never letting her age or physical inconveniences slow her down. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends especially her second family-The Thursday Girls.Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville on Tuesday from 2-8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 11 2009 at 10:00 A.M. DIRECTLY from St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church (5920 Waite St. Merrillville) with Rev. Michael Maginot officiating. Cremation will follow services and she will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery. Dear Nancy and Dan and your families Our prayers and thoughts are with you. When I think of Aunt Mary I think of her smile her laugh (often to one liners from Uncle Dom) her kind thoughtfulness and of course her cats. I just want the family to know that I`m thinking of them at this time of loss. Aunt Mary is a lovely person..always with a kind word or smile. I remember the times she would come to visit at my Mothers..always full of life. She too always sent greetings to my husband and I when we went on one of our many Cruises. As one of the Thursday Girls and Ambridge Mafia my mother would be very sorry to know of Marys passing. Although she no longer remembers the great times she had with Mary and the others due to her dementia our family is will always be grateful for the companionship that Mary provided after my fathers death. Mary will be in our thoughts.
