Mary C. Moran, age 91 of Valparaiso, formerly of Merrillville, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009. She is survived by her step-children: Genevieve Robert Skrivan of Valparaiso, Theresa John Daly of Roswell, GA, and Bill Moran and Teri Moran of Valparaiso; 7 step-grandchildren: Christopher Tracy Skrivan, Gregory Stacy Skrivan, Molly and Maggie Daly, Sarah, Michael and Kelly Moran; 5 step-great grandchildren: Alexandria, Brianna, Conner, Diana, and Kevin Skrivan; 2 brothers: James Betty Nolan of Merrillville and John Nolan of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Jean AnnRichard Gadzala of Munster; nephews: Thomas Nolan of Portage, Steven Francine Nolan of Mesa, AZ, David Shari Nolan of Brighton, Co, James Janet Nolan of Gilbert, AZ, Brian Nolan of Antioch, IL and Jack Pat Nolan of Providence, RI; other nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Libby Nolan of New Berlin, WI. Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Stephen and Winifred Nolan; husband, William M. Moran; and three brothers: Frank, Daniel and Robert Nolan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, with Rev. Joseph Pawlowski officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 7th from 10:00 AM the time of Mass at 11:00 AM. Mary was born in Gary, IN on February 26, 1918 to Winifred and Stephen Nolan. She was a former member of Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Merrillville and a current member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Valparaiso. Mary was an amateur poet, whose poetry was published in World of Poetry, Golden Poet Award and in local newspapers several times. She served as secretary for the Ross Township Republican Club and retired serving as a secretary for Girl Scouts of America.
