Marvin Guernsey was Bishop of the Valparaiso Ward when I had the honor of serving 7 months of my mission there (Oct,84 through May 84). I often recall those days having been my favorite of days on my mission in my favorite area. I loved serving the members and had the honor of serving Bishop Guernsey on one particular Sunday. I was part of a violin trio in sacrament meeting that included his daughter Ramona. After the meeting, he called me into his office, closed the door behind him, sat at his desk and with tears in his eyes, thanked me for giving him that experience. He was a very proud father that day as he was of his children every day. I wish I could have gone back to visit more often as I recall others that I had come to know during my time there. Ramona, Jennifer and Robert, May peace be with you this day and always as you know that mom and dad are together again, that he was called home and received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior and into the presence of God and told, "Well done thou good and faithful servant.... Well done thou." May your sorrows be soon replaced by all of the cherished memories of your lives together as an eternal family and with the knowledge that death is not the end. That through the Atonement of Christ, all of us will be reunited and live again for eternity.

Mr. Guernsey was both my brother's and my teacher in the 90's. He was a great teacher and left a lasting impression on both of us. I know he is looking down on us and asking if anyone "has anything to say for the good of the cause". My deepest condolences going out to the family.

Mr. Guernsey was a great teacher who gave me enough Chemistry background to become a chem major at IU before going to dental school. Thanks, Mr. G. Nothing but good memories of you and your classes.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

For all of the wonderful memories. Going to the DC Temple and then the Chicago Temple. We enjoyed all of the family get togethers and the baking of cakes, pies and cookies. We love you Marvin and miss you so much. Thank you for making our family a part of yours. Love, Greg and Sheri Noelting.
