Marlene A. Grantz, age 72, of Michigan City, died Thursday, March 4 at 4:10 p.m. at St. Anthony Memorial Health Care. A committal service will be held at noon on Monday, March 8 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, March 7 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home. Marlene was born November 13, 1937 in Chesterton, IN to Leo and Dorothy (Hagen) Wiesemann, both of whom preceded her in death. In 1959, at St. Patrick’s Church in Chesterton, she married Ronald Grantz, he preceded her in death. Surviving is her son Mark Grantz of Michigan City, daughters Leslie Crosby of Michigan City and Lynn (Paata Agapishvili) of Valparaiso, grandchildren Nicole and Scott Crosby of Michigan City and David and Medea Agapishvili of Valparaiso, and brothers Darrel (Donna) Wiesemann and Dean Wiesemann. Mrs. Grantz had worked at J.C. Penney and Parco Baking Company. Marlene loved animals and over the years she adopted and cared for many stray cats and dogs. She leaves behind four cats and three dogs who adore her. She loved watching sports and news on TV. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michiana Human Society
