A simple acknowledgment. I'm sending back your loving words to you in the absense of your mother.

I was fortunate enough to be Jean's editor co-worker at the Star for a few years. She was one of the most honest people I have ever met. She was engaging and knew a lot about a lot of things. I learedn from her. It was one of the most enjoyable working experiences in my 35 years of writing and editing. Every time I drive past their stately home south of the Square, I think of her. She was truly an American original.

Megan & Peter, My mother just informed me about Jean. I share in your sorrow. I have nothing but fond memories of your mother when I was a little girl - always happy and cheerful. Jean was a wonderful, beautiful human being. Her beautiful spirit will live on now with God. My thoughts and prayers are with her. Love to you both, Delphine

Mrs. Barrett or Mrs. B is what I called her when I was growing up was a wonderful influence in my life. Always there and being 'mothering.' Providing a snack or lunch, a drive somewhere or a pickup, a hot cup of cocoa and sometimes even a stern word. Thank you Mrs. B. May the Lord be with you.
