MABLE WISE SWISHER , age 95, a lifelong resident of Crown Point, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles; parents George & Alice Wise; and brother Howard Wise. Survived by niece Kathy Birk of Lake County; cousins Samuel J. (Sandra) Pullara Suwanee, GA, Linda Wise of Traverse City, MI, Dr. Timothy Wise of Valrico, FL; and her nieces & nephews. Mable was a member of First Christian Church in Crown Point. She was a retired Bookkeeping Supervisor from Commercial Bank. Mrs Swisher belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution Julia Watkins Brass Chapter, the Lake County Historical Society, the Old Homestead Preservation Society, and was a life member of the DAV Chapter 80 Auxiliary. Mable was a graduate of Crown Point High School, Class of 1935. Mable and Charlie Swisher were leaders in the effort to preserve the old Lake County Court House, and were involved in many civic and cultural activities in Crown Point for many years. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service (811 E. Franciscan Dr., Crown Point) on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. DIRECTLY from First Christian Church (495 S. Indiana Ave., Crown Point) with Rev. David Maddack officiating. There will be visitation at church one half hour prior to services. At rest Salem Cemetery, Hebron.
