Lyle W. Marschand, age 92, of Demotte, IN, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at St. Anthony Hospice in Crown Point, IN. He is survived by his wife, Meriam Porter Marschand; sons, Lyle W. Julie Marschand Jr. of Naperville, IL and Larry E. Amy Marschand of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Bret Sara Marschand, Dawn Marschand, Brooke Chris Stokdyk, and Blaire Hensley-Marschand; great-grandchildren, Camden Marschand and Anna Jo Stokdyk; brothers, Robert Dale Rosalyn Marschand of Connersville, IN and Earl Vernon Marschand of Albuquerque, NM; sister; Velda Marschand Foreman of Kokomo, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl E. and Velda Judson Marschand and brothers, Kenneth, Doyle, Orville, Carl, and Donald Marschand. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre NOTE: NEW LOCATION- 2 blocks east of Broadway at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN, with Pastor Laura Helm officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN. Mr. Marschand served in the U.S.Army for 20 years, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was an independent truck driver for 3 years in Kokomo, IN, and self-employed as an auto repair specialist and trouble shooter for 23 years in Gary, IN and later in Demotte, IN. He was a member of the Air Force Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Defenders of Wildlife and Judicial Watch. Lyle had a passion and gift for fixing almost anything that was broken or not working properly, especially autos, clocks, old computers, and miscellaneous items.
