Lovena “Tootie” Handley, age 75, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 at St. Anthony Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1934. Tootie graduated from Crown Point High School in 1952 where she participated in Girls State. She married her high school sweetheart, John Handley, on January 31, 1953, who survives. She raised five sons: late Mike Janet, Marty Therese, Matt Dian, Mont and Marcus. She is also survived by grandchildren; Josh, Sarah Ben, James, Joel & Scott along with great-grandchildren; Ben & Anna. Tootie is also survived by brothers and sisters; late Richard Brenda Williams, Bob Mona Williams, Mary John Valles, Sandy late Duane Eaton, Skip Dianna Williams, Jan Marti Williams, many brothers & sisters-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Harvey & Lovena Williams. Tootie retired from St. Anthony Hospital with 17 years of service. She was also the manager of the Crown Point License Branch for 7 years. Tootie was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. Funeral prayers will be said on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre NOTE: NEW LOCATION- 2 blocks east of Broadway at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, 8303 Taft St., Merrillville with Fr. Peter Muha officiating. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn in Schererville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN.
