Lawrence Robert Bilek Sr., age 47, of Michigan City, died Monday, August 24, 2009 suddenly of natural causes at his residence. Services will be held Monday, August 31, at 1:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Minister Roger Lee officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 11-1 and again from 3-5 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Mr. Bilek was born June 20, 1962 in Hinsdale, IL to Bartos M. and Geneva (Risner) Bilek. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Michigan City. Also surviving are his sons, Lawrence R. Bilek Jr. and Joseph D. Bilek, both of Michigan City, his brothers Russell D. Bilek and Michael J. (Wendy) Bilek, nieces Dakota Bilek, Kallista Barnes, and Jenna Bilek all of Michigan City. Many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive. Mr. Bilek was a welder for over 12 years for Vidimos. He was a hard and dedicated worker. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He loved music like Queesnsryche and Iron Maiden and being outdoors riding his bicycle. He enjoyed and was always fascinated with astronomy. He liked technology, playing guitar and video games. He was a quiet man whose actions spoke for him. Lawrence passed much too soon and will be missed by everyone whose life he touched and remembered and loved forever. Memorials may be given to The American Heart Association or a museum of your choice.
