Laurel “Laurie” Ann Mielke

September 24, 1953 - December 29, 2023

Laurie A. Mielke, age 70, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023.

Laurie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Michael Mielke; daughter, Michelle (Paul) Butterfield; grandsons: Cody McCulloch and Nathan Butterfield; brother, Jon (Linda) Vayda; and sisters: Lyn Vayda, Donna Vayda, and Leslie (Paul) Bores.

Laurie was preceded in death by her father and stepmother: Steve and Janalee Vayda; and mother, Mary Vayda.

Laurie was a graduate of Columbus High School in Marshfield, Class of 1971. She received her accounting degree from Chaperal College in Tuscon, AZ. Laurie was an office manager for FCA Flooring in Merrillville, IN. She was an avid reader and especially loved Harry Potter. Laurie loved to garden and spend time with her cats.

Per Laurie’s request, there will be no services. Cremation services are entrusted to Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre.

I just saw Laurie's obituary this morning and I'm in shock. My sympathies to you, Mike, and your family. Being with someone for 52 years and now they're gone is beyond devastating. I'm sending all of you hugs, love and prayers. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss...

So sorry to hear about the loss of Laurie. It has been many years since I have seen her, but have fond memories of her from grade & high school.

While I had not seen Laurie since graduation, my memory of her is crystal clear. She was so very nice to everyone and a real sweetheart. Condolences to the family.
