Mr. Larry Deane Lape, 71, of Portage passed away peacefully Monday February 16, 2009 at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Georgia after an extended illness. He was born in East Chicago, IN and lived most of his life in Merrillville, IN. He was the son of the late Evelyn Lamb Lape and was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Lape Bevans; two brothers, Lee and Dale Lape. He was a retired supervisor with LTV Steel in East Chicago, IN and a member of the South Lake Church of the Nazarene in Crown Point, IN. The survivors include his wife, Nora May Turley Lape of Portage, IN; five children, Norman Lape of Portage, IN; Cheryl Lape of Valparaiso, IN, Dwayne Lape wife Tiffany of South Bend, IN, David Lape of Valparaiso, IN and Christy Lape Dickt husband Rev. Stacy of Waycross, GA; nine grandchildren, Jillian Lape, Dallas Lape, Casey Atwood, Evelyn Lape , Michael Lape, Alexandra Dickt, Sarah Dickt, Emily Dickt and Jacob Deane Lape; his father, Charles Lape wife Dorothy of Crown Point, IN; a sister, Judy Ann Lape Jimokas husband George of Coconut Creek, FL; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 21, 2009 directly at South Lake Church of the Nazarene.
