KENNETH YOUNG, age 76 of Portage, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014. Survived by son, Kenneth (Jennifer Knotts) Young of Portage; daughters-in-law: Doreen Young of Portage, Sandra Young of Chesterton; six grandchildren: Nicholas, Trevor, Kodie, and Cassandra Young, Eddie and Rita Marie Young; brother, Charles Richard (Theresa) Young of Michigan City. Preceded in death by wife, Sandra; and son, Edward. Kenneth attended Portage Christian Church. He was a graduate of Gary Edison High School and was an Army veteran. He worked at the Bud Company and was very active with the union. Kenneth was the owner of the Standard Station on 20 and 249, Portage and Ken’s Corner Grocery Store, County Line and Route 6, Westville. He also worked for United Tractor in Chesterton and was a union negotiator. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 2700 Willowcreek Rd., Portage on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 from Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Pastor Scott Marshall officiating.
