Kenneth “Ken” D. Hayes, age 70, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Ken is survived by his son, Kenny Hayes; brother, Eldon “Bud” Hayes; his best friend, Della Wittgren; nieces and nephews: Carrie (Garret Maddox) Snow, Casey Snow, Heidi (Scott Piovano) Snow, Ryan (Lyndsey) Hayes, Vanessa Joy Hayes, Brandon (Jennifer) Hayes; and his many good friends including: Tim (Marcy) Palmer, Kurt Parrish, Kathy and Steve Witherspoon.

Ken was preceded in death by his son, Kurtiss Hayes; parents: Eldon and Betty Hayes; and sister, Joyce Schroeder.

Ken was raised in Crown Point and lived off 93rd Avenue all his life. He was a graduate of Merrillville High School, Class of 1972. He began his career at Bethlehem Steel and ended with Arcelor Mittal as a Supervisor with 48 years of service. Ken loved living off the land and tilling the grounds on the family farm. He also enjoyed playing the slot machines at Blue Chip Casino. Ken enjoyed watching the Bears and Cubs play in his limited free time. He was a real hard worker who will be greatly missed.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 PM with Kurt Parrish officiating.

Interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
