Kay Theresa Tweed

March 12, 1941 - April 19, 2020

Kay Theresa Tweed (nee Kleckner), age 79, of Rensselaer, formerly of Gary, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

Kay is survived by her children: Shannon (TJ) Tweed, Connie (Pasquale) Capocci, Donna Magers and Charlotte (James) Goodwin; grandchildren: Brentley Jackson, Ashley Gasienica, Casey Olson and Nicholas Olson; great-grandchildren: Madilynn Olson, Sophie Olson and Hannah Coundif; siblings: Lyle (Dorothy) Kleckner, Sandra (Wray) Loney, Melvin (Grace) Kleckner and Phyllis (Tom) Trottier; many nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Tweed; parents: Charles and Mabel (nee Hanaway) Kleckner; son, Dennis Smith; siblings: Harold (Barb) Kleckner, Gene (Jerry) Kleckner and Norma (Virgil) Davis.

Kay looked forward to playing bunco and making ceramics with her girlfriends, but most of all she loved her family time. She was funny and had the best sense of humor. Kay worked as a lunch aide at DeMotte Elementary, as well as an after school aide.

Due to CDC guidelines and the health of our community, private services with immediate family only will be handled by Geisen Funeral and Cremation Services in Merrillville, IN. Kay will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.

Aunt Kat will truly be missed, her humor her kindness and her love of family. Ill never forget spending the night at her house when I was little, she would spoil us with pop, popcorn, ice cream! One time she wanted me to sign Uncle Georges name to something so she could get new carpet, his handwriting was so bad she said no one would ever know the difference! we laughed, but I wouldn't do it I was too scared. I will miss her so much!
